You are invited to investigate the future design of the work environment – this is your opportunity to showcase your creativity to the Australian design community! Now in its second year, Workstation of the Future 2008 is recognised as one of the most exciting design competitions in the country.

Iken in conjunction with various sponsors is offering a unique and exciting opportunity for architects, designers and students to conceive the office of tomorrow. There are great prizes to be won including a D10-day trip to Orgatec, Cologne, a visit to our manufacturer Gispen in The Netherlands and a visit to Okamura in Japan!

There are two categories for working professionals and students: Innovation Award and Sustainability Award. The competition will run from 1st October 2007 to 30th June 2008.

All winners will be announced at an award celebratory night in August 2008.

ABOUT

CATEGORIES
This competition seeks innovative and intelligent ideas based on the functionality and scope of changes in the workplace environment. Entrants are encouraged to design the workstation of the future incorporating the latest uses of structural, colour, form, material and design innovation.

There are two categories each for PROFESSIONALS and STUDENTS:
  • Innovation Award
  • Sustainable Award
HOW TO ENTER
Design submissions are to be sent to Iken and include:
  • Up to 3 x A3 colour copies of the design concept
    • Submission must include a 3D perspective view
    • Design drawings must be to a working standard (hand drawing or CAD rendered acceptable)
  • CD containing all images in high resolution PDF digital files
  • Maximum 300 word description of the most important features of the design highlighting any functional,innovative and environmental elements
  • Signed Entry Form

REWARD - INTERNATIONAL CATEGORY
Due to the overwhelming international response to the 2008 Workstation of the Future design competition,Iken has announced a new category - INTERNATIONAL CATEGORY for all designers and students residing outside of Australia, New Zealand and Fiji.
Iken will choose two winners from the International Category selected from the criteria fo INNOVATION and SUSTAINABILITY design.
The winners will receive commendation on the night of the awards and a designed trophy delivered to the
designer.

AWARDS NIGHT
The winners will be announced at an awards celebratory night to be held at Iken’s Sydney showroom in
August 2008.
All entrants will be invited to attend the awards night.

CONDITIONS OF ENTRY
  1. Information on how to enter and prizes form part of these terms and conditions of entry.
  2. INTERNATIONAL CATEGORY - Competition is open to anyone who resides outside of Australia, New Zealand or Fiji, and who is not: a) an employee or immediate family of the promoter and its agency associated with this promotion.
  3. Entry submissions commence 1/10/07 and close 5pm on 30/6/08. Judges’ decisions are final and no correspondence will be entered into. Winnerswill be notified by telephone and in writing. No entrant may publicly disclose the name/s of the winning entrant/s until after the official announcementby Iken. The winning entries will be announced in August 2008 and published in INSIDE (Issue 53) in September 2008 and on IKEN’s websitewww.iken.com.au.
  4. The prizes for the INTERNATIONAL category includes two designed trophies delivered to the designers for the Innovation and Sustainable categories.
    No responsibility is accepted for any variation in the content or value of the prize. The winner will be notified by phone and mail.
  5. The promoter shall not be liable for any loss or damage whatsoever suffered (including but not limited to indirect or consequential loss) or personalinjury suffered or sustained as a result of taking part in the competition or winning the prize except for any liability which cannot be excluded by law.
  6. The promoter accepts no responsibility for late, lost or misdirected submissions.
  7. All entries will be entered into the Promoter’s database and may use entrant’s names and addresses for future promotional, marketing and publicitypurposes, unless otherwise advised by the entrant. In promotion, Iken will endeavour to promote the name of the entrant. Each entrant acknowledgesthat Iken has the right to reproduce for promotional purposes only, the submission in whole or in part without payment of release or licensing fees tothe copyright owner.
  8. Iken does not make any claims on copyright or intellectual property rights on the submissions. Each entrant agrees, that if their submission wins an award, to grant Iken the right of first refusal to purchase, licence or otherwise exploit the submission and/or any associated rights should the entrant at anytime after the date of posting the submisson decide to sell, licence or otherwise exploit or deal with the submission and/or any associated rights or any part of it. Iken is under no obligation to assist in the development or manufacture of any entrant’s submitted design/s. The entrant warrants thatit is the owner of the submitted entry and that the entry does not infringe the intellectual property rights of any third party. No entries will not be returnedto the entrant.
