Designers and companies from all over the world are now once again invited to register their products for the red dot design award, the leading and largest international design competition. With more than 11,000 submissions from 61 countries, the international “red dot design award” ranks among the largest and most renowned design competitions in the world. It is divided into the “red dot award: product design,” the “red dot award: communication design” and the “red dot award: design concept.” The award-winning products are put before an international public in the red dot design museum.

In 2009, the products are assessed in seventeen different groups. An additional differentiation in the product categories this year means that the expertise is even more focused, as experts who assess the entries are selected for each individual product group.
Consequently, the results in a category ultimately reflect the future of the respective industry in terms of design, and thus serve as a guide for manufacturers and designers worldwide.
